To give me a clearer understanding of acting or animating my characters emotions and body language i started searching for other people that have acted to my chosen dialogue i found a couple.

Planing of staging

After watching the original movie scene to training day i started planning the staging of my character. things like environment and props, how is he going to be acting, camera shots and angles. I then drew sketches of the key poses needed. I decided my character will be on top of a high object or building talking down to people.
To make this easy on me i wrote the dialogue im going to be animating to across my storyboard that way i will know what positions im animating to what words and emotions.

Theatrical analyses of training day dialogue scene.

I then looked at my 20 second dialogue scene and analysed the cinematography of the scene. i drew a storyboard showing the shots that were used to capture the moment.

The first shot was a middle shot showing the character as he rotates his upper body and head from left to right shouting at everyone around him..camera follows his movement.

The second was a close up facial shot showing him shouting at everyone. Then cuts to everyone walking away whilst his still in the shot.

finishes off with another close up showing still shouting at every one.

I chose to animate to a dialogue from a movie called 'Training day' starring Denziel washington.

Dialogue lip-syncing try out

i was then giving a dialogue "you feeling alright phil?"and using my 3d moon rig character i began practising syncing his mouth to match the words. This took a lot of practice and would help me prepare for my actual chosen dialogue.

Analysing the lips movement

 I then took two of the videos and analysed the lips movement here is the word "i told Ben"

From doing this i actually found out not a lot of moving of the lips is emphasized whilst talking. Different things can also affect how your mouth is shaped when pronouncing a word things like your accent or what your doing whilst your talking.
